Time for a round
The time taken for a round of golf has been gradually increasing for some time and this could be a reason for the reduction in the number of players.

If Clubs had the ability to monitor the speed of play in line with the R&A rule book it may encourage more players.
The R&A suggest the following times:
A two ball group should take approximately 3hours 10 minutes
A three ball group should take approximately 3hours 30 minutes
A four ball group should take approximately 3hours 50 minutes
If you take longer than these times then you should analyse why.
When you are clear to hit a shot you are allowed 50 seconds to play (if you are the first to play). The second player is allowed a further 40 seconds.
Similar times are allowed on the green.
If only they could only improve the weather as well😀
